The Icebox Radio Theater has signed with PRX.ORG, a radio distributor that markets programming to public and community stations around the country. The new deal has already netted benefits for the IBRT. KTNA, community radio for the Susitna Valley in Alaska has acquired the rights to ‘The Cabin Next Door’ which is, coincidentally, the first play ever produced by the IBRT.

“It was always in the plan to distribute nationally,” IBRT artistic director Jeffrey Adams said. “Our motto’s is, ‘Bringing the Northland’s Stories to the World,’ and this deal is our first major step toward making that motto come true.”

Unrelated to the PRX deal, the IBRT also announced that ‘Lifeboat’, one of its most popular early productions, will be featured on Radio Drama Revival, a program that features the best in new radio drama on station WMPG in Alfred, Maine, on April 26.

“In one week, we found ourselves stretched literally from one end of the country to the other,” Adams said.

There is no word yet on a broadcast date at KTNA. The station is available locally online at

The IBRT has twelve plays currently available through PRX. Stations interested in the plays can audition them in their entirety, then download individual episodes or the entire series. Adams plans to add more plays to PRX in the next few weeks.

“We’d like to add Snowbank, as well as some seasonal offerings like a Halloween Show and a Christmas Carol,” Adams said.

WARNING: Second press release coming on local broadcast schedule.

I have some really, really wonderful news for everyone.

About a month ago, after the theater received a very generous and unexpected donation, I made the decision to join a service called PRX.ORG - a kind of online warehouse for community and NPR radio stations. And I just got the word that

KTNA, a radio station in Alaska has licensed 'The Cabin Next Door'. No word on schedule yet, but this a big day for the IBRT.

And here is a link to the station

Spread the word.
